Another Species Taken Off Endangered List

Most Humpback Whales taken off endangered list

Earlier this week, we talked about how the Giant Panda was no longer on the endangered list. Well even more good news this week for all animal lovers. Most Humpback Whales join the Giant Panda, and have been taken off the endangered list. All Humpback Whales were listed as endangered by the US Government back in 1970. Commercial whaling was the cause of the dwindling number of humpback whales.

However nowadays Humpback Whales are grouped into 14 distinct populations. After a scientific review, nine of those populations no longer need to be on the endangered list. Angela Somma, Chief of the Endangered Species Division, said that “Most of the Humpback Whale populations have increased, and increased substantially from where they were.”

Whales still considered endangered include populations in Central America, off northwest Africa, in the Arabian sea, and in the western north pacific, and a population near Mexico. For the Whales that are no longer considered endangered, nothing will change. They will still be covered under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and under the International Whaling Commission Moratorium on hunting them. This was imposed in 1982, and will remain in effect.

Somma said “That many of the day-to-day protections and activities will continue to occur.” Officials have filed regulations about how close a vessel can come to whales, and about maintaining proper distance. Collisions with ships are a danger to whales. They also face fear of getting tangled in ships nets. There have been 40 reports off the west coast just the first half of this year.

Just like the Giant Pandas, international efforts have succeeded in saving another species from certain extinction. Hopefully efforts like this can continue, and the rest of the Humpback Whale population can follow, and even more endangered animals join the formally endangered family.

The Giant Panda Is No Longer Endangered

The Giant Panda Is No Longer Endangered

Good News And Bad News For Animal Lovers

The Giant Panda population has rose 17 percent from 2004 to 2014, allowing the IUCN to downgrade from endangered to vulnerable. The Giant Panda population in the wild in China has grown from 1,596 in 2004 to 1,864 in 2014.  An intensive campaign to save them has been underway since the 1970’s.

The trading of panda skins was banned in 1981, and a wildlife protection law was enacted in 1988. The law banned poaching and conferred the highest protected status to the panda. The Chinese government even partnered with international nongovernmental organizations and Zoos to spread research and conservation, and breeding efforts. Recently 19-year-old Lun-Lun gave birth to twins at the Atlanta Zoo.

However, the rise in the Panda population in the China wild seems to come from reforestation and forest protection efforts. However, climate change still threatens 35 percent of the bamboo Habitat. Which is why the Giant Panda is now listed as vulnerable, with the chance of extinction.

WWF Director General Marco Lambertini said “The recovery of the Panda shows that when science, political will, and engagement of local communities come together, we can save wildlife and also improve biodiversity.”

However even with the good news about the Giant Panda, there are still so many species at risk. Climate change is a serious threat. However the pandas are a good example of how we can all come together to save others species.

Netflix Gets A New Bill Nye Show

Netflix Gets A New Bill Nye Show

Seemingly re-invigorated by the recent flat Earth debates and other outspokenness of Bill Nye, Netflix has hired the “science guy” for a chat show. The show will be titled “Bill Nye Saves The World” is scheduled for release in 2017. The show is expected to be Bill Nye unfiltered about every range of topic he wants to discuss.

I, for one, can’t wait.

Interesting that this Science Guy got his start as a skit on a comedy show, and has grown to be a paternal figure of science for so many of us millennials. If you look up the show KING 5 you can find the clip that got him started.

If you want to catch up on ‘Bill Nye “The Science Guy”‘, there are about 100 episodes to watch.

Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, and Mars in the sky tonight!

Venus and Jupiter conjunction via Abid Khan in Bangladesh
Venus and Jupiter conjunction via Abid Khan in Bangladesh

Tonight, you will be able to observe Venus and Jupiter appear as bright star like objects in the sky, very close to each other. This proximity will not be visible from Earth again until 2065.

There are a few more bonuses to this evening’s view of this rare conjunction. Venus is nearly “full” at 93% in full view. Venus is like our Moon, it has phases of view from Earth. Also above the conjunction Saturn, Mercury, and Mars are also in full view. 5 amazing planets and the moon for your view.

You will not need any telescope or binoculars to see Venus or Jupiter, but to see Saturn, Mercury and Mars you may have to drive away from light pollution.

Venus and Jupiter should be easy to see right at dark, from the entire planet, just above the horizon where the Sun sets. Try to avoid trees, buildings, mountains that block this view. They are actually in full view at 6 PM Eastern Time but the Sun will be too bright for anyone to see them.

Creation in six days

The Ancient of Days – William Blake, Fitzwilliam Museum, CambridgeIt was on the summit of Mount Sinai, amidst fire and smoke, that Yahweh, the God of Israel, revealed himself to be the world’s Creator. He told the nation: over six days you shall labour and do your work, but on the seventh you shall not work, for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them, and rested the seventh day. The weekly cycle goes back to the time just after the Exodus, 1446 BC, when God revealed himself to Israel in ten commandments. It was a new idea. So far as is known, no other ancient people regulated their lives according to this pattern. The creation itself is described in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. Written in the 2nd millennium, Genesis distils a tradition that can be traced back to the mid 3rd millennium, a time when writing had developed sufficiently to be able to capture complete narratives. In oral form the tradition may have gone back further still, perhaps even to the events themselves. (Go here for evidence supporting this idea.)
Western society, while still observing a pattern of six days’ work and one day’s rest, no longer believes that God made the universe in a week. Indeed, it has ceased to believe in a creation at all. However, some of the non-belief is due to misunderstanding, as the commentary below seeks to demonstrate. Two points may be stressed at the outset:

Nothing in the universe exists now as it did in the beginning.
The problem of reconciling the account to what we know about the world’s evolution since the beginning is not solved by arguing that the six days denote some longer period. If the world no longer exists in its original form, its creation over six days cannot be in conflict with what we see now, and reconciliation schemes such as the “gap” and “day-age” theories are solve nothing.
In the beginning

The account opens with the statement that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. In English,”heaven” and “the heavens” have rather different meanings. In Hebrew the word is the same, shamayim (a dual), and while it sometimes means the region immediately above the earth, i.e. the space which contains the sun, moon and planets, in other contexts it has the sense of everywhere above, without limit. In the absence of any limiting context, “heaven and earth” denotes the whole universe.

No pre-existing raw material is mentioned, implying that none existed. The word for ‘created’, bara, implies that God himself brought the raw material itself into existence. As in English, bara has more pregnancy than the word “make”, asah. While creating includes the idea of making, making does not necessarily include the idea of creating.

The new heavens are in darkness. There are no stars, and the earth is enveloped in formless water. The spirit of God hovers over the water, invisible, the verb metaphorically suggesting the fluttering of a bird. Hebrew “spirit” (ruah) also means “breath” (as in Gen 6:17) or “breeze” (3:8). The supernatural wind moving over the waters at the Creation parallels the natural wind (8:1) that passes over the waters at the moment of regeneration, after the world’s destruction.

“In the beginning” has a dual reference, both to the time preceding the first day and to the whole period down to the seventh day. In the initial period God creates the universe out of what is not; in the days following he completes the creation by giving it form and life. Until then the earth is without form and void of life. The account opens with a statement of the first work of God and a summary of all his work

Without light, time cannot be measured in days, months and years. The days are defined by the phenomena of nightfall and daybreak (not, as in most translations, evening and morning), and nightfall comes first, implying a beginning at or after midday. The most natural point from which to reckon the start of a day is dawn. However, the Israelites, perhaps uniquely, reckoned days as beginning from sunset, presumably because they knew that the days of the original week began at this time. They knew it because God had told them; left to their own imagination, they would have written “there was daybreak and there was nightfall”. In relation to the sun they distinguished two such moments: the point when the sun set and the point when there was complete darkness, as in the instruction to sacrifice the Passover lamb “between the two evenings” (Ex 12:6).

In nearly all mythical attempts to understand the beginning of the world, the sun is the oldest object in the universe. The fact that the light of the first day is not attributed to the sun is, like the reversed order of nightfall and daybreak, an indication that the account was not a product of human imagination. Wherever the light came from, there now existed a single source of light, and the Earth was spinning about its own axis in relation to that source. The period is expressly defined to encompass one night and one day.

The first day

The pattern of the succeeding days shows that the text describing the first such period does not begin with “In the beginning”, but with the phrase, “And God said”. The preceding two verses describe a situation that exists in time prior to the first day, before time can be measured.

It is often urged that religion tells us about the “why” of creation and science the “how”. In reality, Genesis tells us nothing about why God created the world (disregarding some functional explanations in vv. 14 and 29-30), whereas the how is clearly stated. Things take shape or come into existence not through some intrinsic capacity to become ever more organised, of themselves, but in response to a supernatural voice. As Psalm 33 puts it: “By the word of Yahweh were the heavens made, and all their multitude by the breath of his mouth. He spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Creation distinct from evolution. Evolution, the realisation of the potential to change, necessarily follows creation.

“Let there be light” is the first of ten creation commands. Although the source of the light is not identified, it must have been something physical, for God subsequently separated the light from the darkness, calling the light “day” and the darkness”night”. It cannot have been the sun, created on Day 4. And it cannot have been other stars, for we know from astronomical observation that stars form naturally. Condensing from clouds of gas and dust, they are still forming. By definition, creation is a purposeful act distinct from anything that can occur of its accord, that does not require supernatural power.

Astronomers investigate the early universe by looking for objects furthest away, since light travels at a finite speed and those objects appear as they were when the light left them, not as they are now. Amongst the most distant objects are quasars, bodies like stars but much more massive and more luminous, billions of times more luminous. In Big Bang cosmology they are thought to be powered (paradoxically) by black holes and situated at the centre of primeval galaxies, but at these stupendous distances the reality is impossible to determine. More probably they are, or were, the ultra-energetic nuclei of what would only later become galaxies with central black holes. What we do know is that as we travel further back in time, quasars become both more luminous and more numerous, suggesting that the present universe is darker than it once was.

Apart from stars and black holes, quasars are the only sources of light in the universe, so we can infer that a quasar illuminated the Earth on the first day: the primal ancestor of the black hole now at the centre of the Milky Way. The quasar shone with so much energy that one side of the Earth was lit up, just as if the Sun was shining. Similar quasars blazed with light throughout the universe.

Galaxies come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Among the most common are those with a spiral form. Since their form is natural and clearly implies a time when they were not coiled, there are two possible explanations for their evolution. One is that matter has been continually spiralling inwards, from a centre of origin somewhere else. The other is that matter initially issued outwards from the centre of the galaxy itself. Either:

atoms of hydrogen gas locally clumped together after a hypothesised ‘Big Bang’ to be sucked gravitationally into ever growing ultra-dense concentrations of matter at the nucleus

primordial concentrations of rotating hydrogen ejected jets that became the arms of galaxies as they centrifugally wound around the nucleus.
The barred spiral galaxy NGC 1300, 100,000 light-years across.A naturalistic cosmology is obliged to go for the first option. Observational evidence favours the second. As one goes back in time galaxies become more compact, not diffuse, and more energetic. While image resolution is insufficient to discern the form of the earliest galaxies, they seem to be increasingly dominated by ultra-luminous quasars, even superquasars, with masses equal to billions of suns, at a time when, according to Big Bang theory, matter was flying apart and should not have been forming massive clumps. It is therefore reasonable to suppose that quasars spawned the billions of stars making up the present galaxies. (A recent report has confirmed that quasars can blast out star-forming matter: see here.) In the nearer universe most spiral galaxies show two main jets streaming out of the nucleus.

Whether the age of the universe is to be measured in terms of billions of years depends on whether the speed of light has been constant over time. If it has been slowing down, as evidence of rapid geological processes indirectly suggests, then radiation from the most distant stars would not have taken billions of years to reach us. Because of the intimate connection between the velocity of light and nuclear energy, stars would have gone through their life cycle much more quickly than their current rate of fuel-burning.

As the quasars ignited, the heavens ceased to be dark and formless. With the Earth lying close to the edge of the present Milky Way, most of the light reaching it came from one direction, its present centre. And as the Earth revolved before the light, there was nightfall and morning, one day. The period is expressly defined as one revolution of the earth.

The Israelites seem to have had a surprisingly advanced conception of the earth as a globe suspended in space. Job says:

He stretches out the north over the void,
and hangs the earth upon nothing.
He has described a circle upon the face of the waters
at the boundary between light and darkness.
A verse in Proverbs (8:27) paints a similar picture. The “circle” here is the continually moving terminator between night and day on the earth’s sphere. Most ancient peoples thought of the sun as revolving around the earth, inferring such motion from the rising of the sun in the east and its setting in the west. They thought of the earth as a plate rather than a sphere. The Israelites had a different conception. In their view the first light, and the daily rhythm of light and darkness, came not from the luminary that rose in the east and set in the west but from an unknown source beyond the solar system, in relation to which the earth rotated.

The second day

La Maitrise du Flot energetique du Tohu Bohu (Roubinowitz)God issues a command to separate the waters around the earth so that in the midst of them there is a firmament, called”heaven” (“sky” or “vault” are misleading translations). Previously “heaven” referred to the entire universe, just as “earth” referred to the whole planet; here it refers to an outer space bounded by terrestrial waters below and celestial waters above. There was also, in the Hebrew world-view, a further region, called “the heaven of heavens”, the universe beyond the firmament (Deut 10:14, I Ki 8:27). Thus the heavens in their totality consisted of two regions, the immediate neighbourhood delimited by an envelope of water, and the region beyond where the stars shone. In Psalm 148 the singer cries:

Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you stars of light!
Praise him, you heaven of heavens
and you waters above the heavens!
The purpose of the outer waters was to shield the Earth from the radiation emitted by the Milky Way and other galaxies at a time when cosmic radiation was much more intense and the Earth, not yet having differentiated into mantle and iron core, had no magnetic field. Water would have provided a very effective shield against cosmic radiation.

A remnant of the waters above the firmament still persists in the form of the Kuiper Belt, an extremely diffuse region of ice bodies beyond Neptune. In the centuries following Creation some of the water diffused into the inner region of the firmament under the influence of the Sun’s gravity. On Mars the canyons, flood plains and ocean basins left by this water can still be seen. Around the Earth, its inward diffusion was arrested for a time by the atmosphere, until an asteroid storm at the time of the Cataclysm ripped through the atmosphere and caused the water to collapse. Torrential rain drenched the earth for 40 days.

The third day

The waters of the deep are gathered together into one place, and land appears. These gathered waters are called “seas” and the land “earth”. Since “sea” can refer to any large expanse of water, including for example the Sea of Galilee (Jos 12:3), “seas” here could denote lakes rather than open ocean. As with “heaven”, “earth” now has a limited meaning: the dry terrain which will constitute the environment for the animals created on Day 6. Other texts help us visualise the arrangement. Genesis 7 refers to springs supplied by water from the great deep, and in Psalm 24 we read that the earth was “founded upon the seas”,”established upon the rivers”. The deep supplied the rivers that flowed out of Eden. The one place into which its waters were gathered must have been the subterranean space created as the land was lifted up. Apart from lakes and rivers, land covered the whole planet, resting on foundations that were sunk into a now subterranean ocean. Lakes, rivers and seas were all interconnected.

In response to another command the earth puts forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit-trees with seed in their fruit, each according to its kind. Note that the earliest organisms to be created are terrestrial. In the fossil record, by contrast, plants and trees do not appear until after marine algae and animals.

Fungi, mosses and ferns reproduce by means of spores. Seeds differ from spores in having a food store to assist germination, but otherwise there is no sharp distinction; indeed the English word “spore” derives from the Greek for seed. Thus “plants yielding seed” may include plants reproducing via spores. Seed-bearing plants, in turn, are include both gymnosperms (predominantly conifers), where the seed is exposed, and angiosperms (flowering plants), where the seed is enclosed within a fruit. Only angiosperms can be described as fruit trees.

In the fossil record, gymnosperms appear after algae and mosses, while the late-appearing angiosperms probably evolved from a line of gymnosperms. Familiar fruit trees such as pomes, almonds, peaches and the like all have an evolutionary history within the angiosperms. However, fruit trees were also created. “Out of the ground Yahweh God made to spring up every tree that was pleasant to the sight and good for food”. Recognition of the one fact does not require denial of the other. Creation and evolution here both apply. God has the power to call things into existence both ex nihilo and as the culmination of an evolutionary process, even the same things. Who knows whether there were not almonds, grapes and apples in the garden of Eden?

The entire antediluvian world preceded the earliest fossils. In contrast to present-day vines, the grapes cultivated by Noah must have derived from vines created as vines. Likewise with the flocks of caprines (Gen 4:2), the cattle (4:20), the raven and doves (8:7-8) and the olive (8:11). Modern caprines descend from a group that include sheep, deer, cattle and the giraffe, none of which were originally domestic animals. Ravens are passerines (songbirds) and as such are related to sparrows and birds-of-paradise. Some birds (e.g. ostriches) evolved from dinosaurs, just as some mammals evolved from reptiles, though it does not follow that all birds descend from dinosaurs or that all mammals descend from reptiles. Olives are a product of the diversification of angiosperms. The arrival at the same destination by genealogically different routes, known as “convergence” or “parallel evolution”, is a well documented phenomenon in biology, and demonstrates that evolution is not a godless, random, uncontrolled process. The suggestion that evolution over time converged on forms existing in the created world simply extends the concept.

But this is to leap ahead. At this point in the narrative the universe is illuminated, but it is empty. The earth has been divided into sea and land, but it has no life. Days 4-6 of the creation week parallel Days 1-3 by describing how the new environments are now filled, whether with celestial bodies, as in the case of the illuminated space created on Day 1, or living souls, as in the case of the seas, the firmament and the land created on Days 2 and 3.

Day Form Day Content

2 Sea and sky 5 Marine and flying animals
3 Vegetated land 6 Terrestrial animals
The fourth day

God commands that two luminaries be placed within the firmament. Sooner or later another light-giver will be needed to cause a difference between day and night, and it is created now. It will also be needed to determine the seasons, days and years by which time is measured, and to provide regular warmth. (The latter function is not mentioned, possibly because initially the sun was cooler, as it would have been early in its life cycle, and the earth more insulated.) Like the unnamed luminary on Day 1, the unnamed sun now separates light from darkness. God names the day, the night and the heavens but not the sun or the moon, as if to emphasise that these are just objects, not deities, despite the use of the word “rule”. The greater luminary rules or controls the day, the lesser luminary the night.

The “stars” are also formed. In ancient Hebrew, as in any language before the age of modern astronomy, the word “star” simply meant a light-giving celestial body, be it a fixed star, a wandering star (i.e. planet) or a shooting star (a meteor). Here the context shows that planets are signified, together with their moons (if any). Stars in the modern sense can and do form naturally by condensing out of the debris of exploded, massive, earlier stars and, more voluminously, from galactic nuclei. As far as we know, they do not exist except as part of galaxies. There are no isolated stars in the space between the Milky Way and the galaxies nearest to it to support the idea they could have been created independently. Planets also form naturally, though nothing remotely like our solar system is known. Rocky, watery Earth in particular appears to be unique.

The sun, the moon and the planets are set in “the firmament of heaven” that God formed on the second day, in the expanse that is interplanetary space, not the sky (or “vault”).

Dieu dit, que il y ait des luminaires – Lucile ButelGenesis does not say how many planets there were originally. Joseph’s dream of the sun, the moon and eleven stars bowing down to him (37:9) seems to be drawing from a belief that there were originally twelve. Similarly, in Revelation 12 there is a vision of the sun, moon and twelve stars. A third of the “stars of heaven” are swept down and crash on the earth: evidently not other suns in the galaxy but planetary fragments, that is, asteroids and meteoroids. That the solar system witnessed the destruction of at least one planet early on in its history, and that Earth has been struck by asteroids many times, most catastrophically at the end of the Hadean period, was unknown to science until the 1970s. Now we know what the Bible means when it refers to stars falling to the earth like figs blown by a gale from a fig-tree (Rev 6:13, alluding to Isa 34:4). The stars are asteroids, and the gale the shock wave from an exploding star beyond the solar system.

The Earth’s moon is a created object. Other moons in the solar system formed naturally from the outer waters that were once more diffuse and from the rocky debris of former planets. In relation to its host planet, it is larger than any other moon and contains almost no water. Other unusual qualities include the high inclination of its orbit and high angular momentum. The more we know about the Moon, the more difficult the problem of explaining its origin by way of natural processes becomes. (The most popular idea, where it condensed from the debris produced by Earth’s collision with another planet, is now in serious trouble.)

The fifth day

God commands the seas to abound with teeming life: with the tannim and everything that moves in the waters: sharks, fish, cephalopods and every other kind of sea creature, down to microscopic protozoa. The exact meaning of the word tannim is difficult to determine; “monsters” is inaccurate because there is no implication of great size, and “whales” has the additional fault that these, like ichthyosaurs and other marine reptiles and mammals, are known to have evolved from land animals. In other contexts a tannin (singular) can be a serpent (Ex 7:9) but, like the English word, it is not the normal term for snake (which is nachash), though an actual snake-like animal does seem intended (cf. Deut 32:33). In Ezekiel (29:3, 32:2) it appears to denote a crocodile. The text sets no bounds on how far what was originally created could have evolved over time. The essential meaning is that long ago God created the ancestors of the animals that now (present tense) move and swarm in the seas. There may be an element of prolepsis in the descriptions.

One might suppose that “waters” meant “oceans”, but again the text is less specific. Waters include lakes and rivers, with “seas” being simply large bodies of water, including lakes, so tannim may not have been marine creatures. The term is a general designation, a collective noun like the other designations of animals. Almost certainly the creatures became extinct during the Deluge, so they were never fossilised, and the difficulty of identifying which animal was meant in other biblical texts reflects the fact that they existed later only as an idea. According to some, the tannin was the “dragon” Rahab/Tiamat and as such a kind of deity. Originally, the animals were created beings, as are all living “souls” (nephesh in vv. 20, 21, 24 and 30, the normal word for “soul”).

Unfortunately, English texts often fail to convey the meaning of key words even when appropriate translations are available. The animals created on Days 5 and 6 are living souls, a more challenging combination of terms than “living creatures”. They are animate beings that have in them the breath of life. “Life” is not something material; it comes from God, and animals and human beings both have it. When God creates man, he forms his body from the dust of the ground and breathes into his nostrils the “breath of life”; only then does he become a living soul (2:7). “Breath” here is neshamah, functioning exactly like ruah, the word used in 6:17. God is the “God of the spirits of all flesh” (Num 16:22). In the words of Ecclesiastes:

They all have the same breath. All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down to the earth.
Similarly in gestation: we do not know how the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child (Eccl 11:5). All we know is that it does. The spirit is not a mere “epiphenomenon” of matter. The coming into being of every child, indeed every animal, requires the direct input of God (cf Ps 139).

The experience of every person that he is a conscious, living being, the instinctive acknowledgement that the taking of life is wrong and not something to be justified by a “survival of the fittest” principle, the truth that one relates best to fellow human beings on the basis that they too are living souls, all accords with this understanding. It contradicts the dogma that makes no distinction between life and non-life and denies the reality of spirit. When biologists speculate about the origin of life, they refer to the origin of bacteria, which cannot move voluntarily. They are not living souls. When evolutionists speculate that all organisms are ancestrally connected to a single “tree of life”, they include all organisms: microbes, fungi, plants and protists as well as animals. How the spirit of a fish, say, evolved into the spirit of a human being is for them a non-question; fishes, like human beings, are merely biological automatons.

Aurore de la Morinerie-NicolasAnother mistranslated word is owph (v. 20 etc). It designates any animal with wings, not necessarily just a bird (for which Hebrew has a separate word). Winged creatures include various kinds of insect. They are each made “according to their kinds”, and their assigned environment is “above the earth, across the face of the firmament”. The face of the firmament, as one looks up, is the lower part of the sky.

Genesis says nothing about “fixity of species”, the idea that everything in the world is as it was when it was created. Plants and animals change over time (as presaged by the curse on the snake, condemned to lose its legs), and they can give rise to new species. “Kind” in the text is a more general word than “species”, the lowest unit in biological classification.”Species” implies the contemporaneous existence of genealogically related species, but in the beginning, with the first generation, there can be no such implication. The text tells us only that within each category of plant and animal there were numerous kinds, and the kinds were distinctive.

On all this life God commands a blessing, and says: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let the flying animals multiply on the earth.” He could have created a world that was fully populated from the beginning and had no ability to reproduce. But he did not. He engineers animals so that they can procreate: they have within them their own seeds of life, like the seeds produced by plants (which also reproduce sexually). He endows them with the ability to multiply and colonise new territory, implicitly with the ability to ‘evolve’, to diversify as they multiply and to adapt to diverse ecological niches as they spread abroad. Nonetheless, it is God who gives life to their embryos, because “life” is distinct from what is in the seed. In that respect every new creature requires his involvement. Every naturally born animal is a fresh creation. The created world is autonomous, but not independent of its Creator. “If he were to take back his spirit and gather his breath to himself, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to the dust” (Job 34:14f).

The sixth day

The earth brings forth animals: beasts (behemah, not “cattle”, which are first mentioned in 4:20), creatures that now creep (lizards, millipedes and the like) and animals of the earth (worms and other burrowers), again, each according to its kind. As before, the distinctions are those of environment: the beasts move clear of the ground, the creeping animals creep along the ground, and the animals of the earth live under the ground. There is no distinction between wild and domestic animals, or between mammals and reptiles.

Finally, and on the same day, God makes man, one male and one female. He makes him “in our image, after our likeness”, male and female together reflecting his nature. As the plural now unexpectedly reveals, God has been speaking to someone when he issued his commands. We can easily forget here that a command implies someone to whom a command is given. One of the attributes of God is that he speaks, even before he creates a human being who can speak, and he creates by speaking. But it is only with the incarnation and revelation of Jesus Christ that we learn that he, the first Son, was the one who performed the commands. He was in the beginning with God (John 1:2). All things were made through him, and nothing made without him.

In him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of the cross.
Colossians 1:16-20
It was the Son obeying the Father who executed the commands, being by nature also God (“And God said And God made”).

In his body man is to reflect the form which God himself takes when he appears in bodily form (so Gen 3:8, 18:1f, Ezek 1:26). He is to have a god-like spirit and exercise a god-like function, having dominion over the earth and everything that lives on the earth. He can understand speech. On the man and the woman God commands a special blessing, and explains what Vitruvian man (Leonardo da Vinci)they may eat: “See, I have given you every seed-bearing plant that is on the face of the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit. And to every animal of the earth and every winged creature of the air and everything that creeps on the earth, whatever is a living sou, I have given every green plant for food.” There is no death in the original food chain. The animals are designed to eat only plants, which are non-living: God makes certain plants specifically for food, and they will provide nourishment enough.

And God looks over everything that he has made, and sees that it is very good, for the heavens and the earth are now finished. The sixth day passes. And on the seventh God rests, blesses it, and makes it holy, because on that day he rested from the work he had done.

The sequel

If this had been the end of the story, we could plumb the lowest strata of the earth, investigate the moon, consider the origin of plants and animals and assess the veracity of the tradition according to whether they all look as if they had been supernaturally created. But it was not the end. As we read on, we find that man, innocent and unknowing, chose a path on the eighth day contrary to the will of his Creator. He listened to the tempting thought that, if he acquired the knowledge of good and evil, he would be like God. So he tasted evil, and consequently he did acquire knowledge. But it was a corrupting knowledge. He found sin now couching at his door, desiring to be his master, and, if he was to be like God, he had to overcome it.

In practice he became its slave. Adam’s first son became a murderer of his second, further down the line a polygamous Lamech boasted that he had killed a man, and eventually the wickedness of Adam’s descendants was so great that God could tolerate it no longer. He was sorry that he had made man. It grieved him. The creation of man had been the climax of his work, and everything in a sense had been made for his sake. Now through man everything was corrupted.

So God said to Noah, a man blameless in his generation, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh; for the earth is filled with violence through them; I will destroy them with the earth. I will bring a cataclysm of waters to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life from under heaven. But I will establish my covenant with you.” And that is what happened. The cataclysm razed even the highest mountains. It blotted out all flesh, every creature that moved on the earth.

It was little less than an undoing of the whole creation. The earth returned to a state of formlessness, overwhelmed by water. The subterranean deep burst through the springs that had once drawn from it, much of the envelope of water around the solar system was dispersed, some of it collapsing back onto the earth, and the atmosphere was torn by fragments of destroyed planets. As has become apparent from exploring other parts of the solar system, the cataclysm was the selfsame event that caused the moon to be bombarded. Melted by thermonuclear fusion and stupendous rates of radioactivity (consequences of the higher speed of light), the moon had already been smothered in lava kilometres thick. So had Mars, Venus and Mercury. In one way or another, by this time every body in the solar system had been transformed, and the effect of these convulsions was that the original face of the creation ceased to be visible. What we see now has a history, and that history leads back to a moment of destruction, not creation.

In a sense, that is the world’s ambiguity: the creation is hidden, just as its Creator is hidden. We see him only if the heart desires to see him, “for now we see in a mirror dimly” and understand only in part. It is by faith that we understand that the world was fashioned by the word of God, from things invisible. The Creator has so ordered the world that we have to look beyond what can be seen, for only thus can we know him. It is the same with the fossil record: we can trace the lineages of organisms, if at all, only so far back. Some kinds had forms that changed little from how they look now; a few underwent radical transformation. By no stretch of the imagination can they all represent a single tree of life, but nor can we trace their lineages back to the creation, or even close to it. An entire world was expunged, along with the earth itself. A much eroded and much deformed stack of geological strata exists only because after that cataclysm the world had to start afresh, this time by natural means. The world had to regenerate itself, and re-creation was a process that was to take tens of thousands of years, not six days.

Reverse Tooth Decay

Backed up from a website no longer found on the internet:

An Australian study reveals the unthinkable: tooth decay is reversible. Celeste McGovern investigates how to reverse cavities and avoid a drill-and-fill solution.

In a little known study in the 1920s, researchers at the Department of Pediatrics and Dentistry at the State University of Iowa treating children for diabetes discovered something untoward. Twenty-eight of the children, whod had a number of dental cavities, saw their extensive active tooth decay come to a halt after they were put on a diabetic diet and treated with insulin. Low in sugar, the diet also included two pints of milk each day, cream, butter, eggs, cod liver oil, vegetables and fruit.1

Intrigued by these findings, the same researchers tried the diet on children in the hospitals orthopaedic ward. The group were fed the same low-sugar, high-dairy plus cod liver oil diabetic diet, but not insulin. Again, all of their dental caries were halted, as evidenced by the stony hardness of the dentine (dentin in the US) compared with its initially decaying state. The researchers noted no advance in the destructive process.

Next, the researchers instructed the mothers of a group of preschool children with cavities to make sure the children got a teaspoon of cod liver oil, a quart of whole milk, an ounce of butter, a glass of orange or tomato juice and two or more servings of vegetables and fruit every day. Otherwise, they could eat whatever they wanted. Some children ate sweets, some were on high-carbohydrate diets and some on low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets. In some cases, they didnt even use a toothbrush. Yet all of the childrens tooth decay arrested within 10 weeks.2

This study and the idea behind it that dental cavities can be reversed has been largely forgotten by the dental profession, whose approach to dental decay is to brandish a drill. In the UK, dentists drill and fit about 12 million metal amalgam fillings each year, to say nothing of the white fillings offered to small children and those willing to pay extra to avoid mercury. According to a British Dental Health Foundation survey, dental decay is the most common disease of UK children. More than four-fifths of the entire UK population has at least one filling; the average adult has seven.

But recently, the possibility of reversing tooth decay was resurrected after a team of Australian dental researchers published the results of their explosive seven-year study and follow-up: up to half of all tooth decay was reversible with the appropriate care, they concluded.

The researchers had split 902 patients from 22 private dental clinics into two groups: those having conventional restorative treatment (drilling and filling); and those following a routine of preventative oral care, including high-fluoride varnishes, attention to brushing, and restriction of snacks and sugary drinks. At the end of the study, those patients following the conservative route were between 30 and nearly 50 per cent less likely to need drilling and filling.3

Unnecessary treatment

As Associate Professor Wendell Evans of the University of Sydney, the studys lead author, concluded, fillings are unnecessary and not required in many cases of dental decay. In his view, his teams research signals nothing less than the need for a major shift in the way tooth decay is managed by dentists.

In the current paradigm, when a semi-annual checkup at the dentist reveals early tooth decay, it is generally a fait accompli that drilling around the affected spot and filling the hole will follow. Even if patients dont feel pain now, they are told that if they dont deal with the decay immediately, it will progress rapidly, damaging the tooth enamel first, then invading the dentine (the layer just under the enamel) to finally make its way to the innervated pulp, where it will cause lots of pain and the need for a root canal procedure or even eventually extraction of the tooth.

A little pain now or a lot of pain later is the deal—and to not treat at all may well be considered negligent. The idea of healing or reversing cavities is rarely discusseds as if teeth are inert rocks in our mouths rather than living tissues. Whats done cant be undone.

But the University of Sydney study notes that, as far back as the 1960s, dental decay was described as a dynamic disease with various states of arrest, progression and remineralization. Teeth are in a constant state of demineralization and remineralization, like skin being continually sloughed off and replaced all without our needing to do a thing.

Watch and wait

The average tooth decay takes four to eight years to progress from the outer enamel layer to the inner layer, according to the Australian dentists. “That is plenty of time for the decay to be detected and treated before it becomes a cavity and requires a filling.

Whats more, according to Evans, 50 years of research studies have shown that decay is not always progressive and develops more slowly than was previously believed. One recent study, for example, of 8,084 tooth surfaces from 543 caries-active adults with substantial fluoride exposure discovered that half the early lesions found were reversed within 33 months, with only 8 per cent progressing to cavities.

The study concluded that drilling and filling is often unnecessary and brings into question the ethics of continuing this practice.

This is a radical accusation coming from within mainstream dentistry. While overtreatment is a well-known topic inside the profession, it is considered to apply only to gross situations, Evans told WDDTY. Many dentists would claim that our approach is unprofessional and bordering on malpractice.

But Evans is not alone. David Albert, an associate professor of dentistry at Columbia University, told the website Colgate Professional in 2014 that early fillings of caries is not always a good thing, as it usually leads to a domino effect of drilling and filling.

For some individuals at high risk for dental decay, its good to find decay early and treat it early. But if youre in a low-risk group for dental decay, the treatment of choice is to apply fluorides in the dental office and at home to repair the tooth. In other words, dont drill.

If I saw 100 patients [who had early decay and no cavities] and decided to wait six months before treating them, it would be the right decision for 95 of them, he added. I think we do more harm by overtreating because there will always be complications of treatment.

Fillings can crack, break or fall out, for example, and the space between the filling and the tooth is a hot spot for further decay that could lead to root canal treatment or tooth loss.

Drilling weakens the tooth and may also threaten neighbouring teeth. A 2015 study from the University of Oslo found that, of 750 tooth surfaces in contact with new dental composite fillings, 61 per cent developed tooth decay within five years. The type of filling used made no difference to the increased risk of tooth decay.

Not to mention that the material used for the fillings themselves may be hazardous. Amalgam fillings are at least 50 per cent mercury metal for which there are more than 10,000 published reports of toxicity. Mercury is a well-established neurotoxin, associated with diseases ranging from Alzheimers to cancer and multiple sclerosis. Countries like Sweden, Norway and Denmark have even banned amalgam fillings altogether.

But the white composite resin fillings that are replacing them may contain hormone disruptors like bisphenol A (BPA). This component of plastics has been linked to infertility, altered brain development, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Particularly in the case of childrens painless cavities, the wait-and-see approach seems to be gaining favour. In 2009, more than 50 practising dentists met at the University of Manchester to discuss the treatment of painless cavities in baby teeth and agreed that it seemed to only expose children to needless pain and suffering for teeth that would be lost by age 11 in any case. The NHS Health Technology Assessment Programme is currently running a trial throughout the UK to compare treatment options in such cases.

For some critics outside of the dental profession, the suggestion that dental practices are not supported by evidence is hardly a revelation. Drilling and filling is driven not by research evidence, but by dentistrys third pillar billing according to Ramiel Nagel, author of the book Cure Tooth Decay (Golden Child Publishing, 2009). In the UK, dentistry is a 7 billion industry a fraction of the £90.4 billion of the US dental industry, but still enormous.

There isnt much incentive in the system for curing and preventing cavities, says Nagel.

Nagel started to look at tooth decay several years ago, when his young daughters teeth began crumbling, and he himself had four cavities. Preferring natural remedies to fluoride, and loath to subject a toddler to the dentists drill, he began to investigate other options.

He came across the works of dentist Weston Price who, in 1915, was the first research director of the National Dental Association (now the American Dental Association). In the 1930s, Price set out to study indigenous peoples across the globe to learn why their teeth and general health were now deteriorating rapidly.

His 1939 book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, is still popular today. It contains many remarkable photographs of the robust health and teeth of people on traditional diets, and those of people with rotten mouths and lots of degenerative diseases with the rapidly spreading modern diet of sugar and processed flour.

Modern dentistry acknowledges that increased sugar consumption is a key ingredient in dental caries because it promotes the growth of the Streptococcus variety of bacteria which produce acid that gradually eats away at teeth. Genetic factors are also increasingly implicated in the process as well.8

But even dental textbooks continue to acknowledge that the mechanism for reducing caries is still not fully explained by either the use of fluoride or restricting sugar intakes.

Price recognized the perils of sugar, but he also noted that the various cavity-free indigenous peoples around the world, though they had widely different diets, all had one thing in common: a high level of fat-soluble vitamins (especially A, D, E and K).

Dr Price found that modern people suffer from tooth decay because modern diets are severely lacking in fat-soluble vitamins, says Nagel. To cure cavities, they simply need to add these vitamins back into their diets.

In his Cleveland, Ohio, clinic, Price successfully reversed many cavities, both in the enamel and the deeper layers of dentine, without using fluoride, but just his nutrient-dense protocol.

Pre-World War II studies

Prices nutritional approach to preventing or reversing dental caries is also supported by other early research besides the Iowa study of diabetic children. Lady May Mellanby, a British dentist who studied thousands of children in pre-World War II London, was also convinced that diet is essential. In an early experiment in children, she observed that a high-cereal diet (and especially oatmeal) was associated with the greatest tooth decay.

This result prompted her to investigate a cereal-free diet rich in vitamin D and calcium. This diet was given to 22 children who had a number of cavities for an average of 26 weeks. The results showed that the diet worked better than any other in preventing further decay and healing those teeth with cavities.10

Miraculous turnarounds

Ramiel Nagel put these and other findings to the test, and healed his daughters and his own cavities. He claims to have been contacted by many people whove also reversed their caries or their childrens too.

Mielle Chenier-Cowan Rose is one of them. Before her daughter Clara Rose was two years old, her teeth were in trouble. One of them was brown and mushy to the touch, and her other teeth were obviously decaying too. Her dentist recommended immediate surgery.

Mielle found Nagels book on the internet and implemented every recommendation immediately. Literally, in five days that one tooth had a miraculous turnaround, she says. It was hard and had lightened. It had been brown. I just couldnt believe it.

That was five years ago and today, Clara Rose, now seven, has lost a few of her baby teeth naturally, but all of her dental checkups have been positive. Mielle says theyve reintroduced some of Nagels prohibited foods, such as high-phytic-acid beans and nuts and a few grains occasionally, but she is no longer casually vegetarian, a factor she believes contributed to her daughters tooth decay.

Judene Benoit is a practising Canadian dentist and author of How to Stop Cavities: A Natural Approach to Prevention and Remineralization (self-published, 2015). Absolutely remineralizing your teeth and cavities requires much more work and effort than having a filling, she says. And remineralizing your teeth and cavities naturally [that is, without fluoride] requires even more work and effort.

Benoit says that choosing not to have fillings can be risky and should always be overseen by a dentist to ensure that the tooth is healing and the cavity is not progressing. But be aware: some cavities must be treated. Benoit has developed a chart to help determine how likely it is to be able to reverse dental caries in a given case (see box, right).

Nevertheless, everyone can benefit from remineralizing their teeth, whether they have cavities or not, she insists. Benoit hears stories of other unintended benefits in children with her approach: it cleared up allergies and acne, improved energy, normalized weight, improved school performance, led to better sleep and made rashes disappear.

All this is more evidence of what Weston Price intuitively understood:
the mouth is a unique window into the state of your health.

Prices protocol

Dr Weston Price was the first research director of the National Dental Association (now the American Dental Association)

¼ tsp fermented cod liver oil + ¼ tsp high-vitamin butter oil (from the milk of grass-fed cattle)

Suggested daily dose: 1 1½ tsp/day (taken in two to three doses)

Foods to avoid:

White-flour products

Skimmed-milk products

Sugar and other sweeteners

Foods to include:

2 cups or more of raw grass-fed milk daily

Bone and vegetable broths

Bone marrow

Beef and fish stews

Organ meats

Fine cuts of red meat

Tomato or orange juice (rich in vitamin C and antioxidants)

Lots of green vegetables

Cooked fruit

Some whole grains (although Nagel advises against grains like oatmeal, which are high in phytic acid, which can deplete critical minerals)

Benoits Remineralizing Likeliness Chart

Remineralizing teeth, while possible, is still a challenge that requires significant changes to diet that may impact lifestyle. Dentist Judene Benoit has seen patients cry for joy when theyve hardened a cavity and staved off the drill, but also some whove worked hard, yet decay has progressed. She devised the following chart to assess the odds of a tooth remineralizing before it needs drilling and filling, but she urges people not to self-assess themselves, as its a skill that requires extensive training and isnt always obvious: sinister-looking cavities can be harmless, and harmless-looking ones can be a potential disaster. A dentist can help assess the risks of waiting to treat while attempting to remineralize based on the location and extent of the decay, and how fast it is progressing.

The chart assesses your tooth by adding up the points: easiest to remineralize = 2 points; challenging = 3-6 points; highly unlikely = 7+ points. Minus 2 means subtract two points from the total score, and a zero point is neutral. But Benoit maintains that whatever the odds of remineralizing an existing cavity, changing the conditions in the mouth to prevent future cavities is always a good idea.

Healing your cavities naturally

Besides increasing nutrient-dense foods and cutting out grains, especially oatmeal, from your diet, here are a few other cavity-healing remedies to try.

Coconut oil pulling

Many people recommend taking a tablespoon or so of coconut oil and swishing it around the mouth, pushing and pulling it between the teeth. Its an ancient Ayurvedic technique that is claimed to have a detoxifying effect, but some think it may remove plaque associated with dental caries too. A recommended oil-pull should last 15 to 20 minutes, and the swishing-about seems to also have a tooth-whitening effect.

In 2015, a group of 60 teenagers with plaque-induced gingivitis were asked to swish coconut oil each morning for 30 days in addition to brushing their teeth. After seven days, plaque and gingivitis markers began to noticeably decrease significantly and continued to drop throughout the rest of the trial.

Grape seed extract (instead of fluoride varnish)

Many dentists like to treat cavities with a fluoride varnish, but this has been linked to neurotoxicity in adults and, at low levels, impaired brain development in children.

Alternatively, grape seed extract, inexpensively available in liquid or powder form, has been demonstrated to be even more effective at remineralizing human teeth in the lab than fluoride, or two other remineralizing agents commonly used in toothpaste.

Cinnamon and clove oil

Applying clove oil to a sore tooth is an old traditional remedy that, in a 2011 study, significantly inhibited the growth of Streptococcus mutans, the bacteria associated with cavity formation. In another study, cinnamon oil beat clove oil at combatting cavity-causing mouth bacteria.

Try adding a few drops of cinnamon or clove oil to a homemade baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) mouthwash:

1 cup (250 mL) tap water

¼ tsp (1 mL) baking soda

Stir the baking soda in the water until it dissolves, then pour the mouthwash into a bottle and close the lid. This mouthwash can only be used for 24 hours; after that, throw it away and make a fresh batch.

Altering your oral pH

The acidity of our mouths is changing all the time ”when were sleeping, after we eat or drink, when we mouth-breathe, if were dehydrated, when were stressed, even when were hungry. Tooth cavity formation requires acidic conditions, as acid dissolves enamel and dentine.

Dentist Judene Benoit recommends that patients start testing their pH throughout the day several times at first, to get an idea of what conditions are contributing to oral acidity. pH strips are not expensive and come with a colour-coded chart to show where your mouth saliva is on the scale between acid and alkaline (this runs from 0 to 14). You simply spit into a cup or let saliva pool in your mouth, dip the test strip into the saliva and immediately compare it against the colour chart to get a reading. (Dont wait or youll get a false reading.)

A pH of 7 is neutral, neither acid nor alkaline and where you want to be. A number higher than 7 is alkaline, and a number lower than 7 is acidic. A saliva pH of 5.5 is the critical pH for cavity formation, Benoit says. If you or your child see a pH score of 5.5, you should treat it like a mini-emergency and take action to raise mouth pH immediately.

But higher acidic numbers like 6.5 arent ideal either. Your mouth should be neutral or very slightly alkaline. If you find your mouth is acidic after drinking numerous cups of coffee all day, stop sipping it all day! If its mildly acidic after eating, take the following steps to alkalinize it:

1) Consume green drinks, smoothies and vegetables containing Chlorella algae, eat a salad, or add a few drops of liquid Chlorella to water.

2) Swish Milk of Magnesia like a mouthwash and spit it out.

3) Mix 1 tsp of sea salt and 1 tsp of baking soda in a cup of water, swish it like a mouthwash, then spit it out.

ORMUS and Pyramids

from Subtle Energies

Pyramid Energy

According to Dr. Philip Callahan, rose granite – which was used in the construction of the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid (only with Internet Explorer) – is one of the most paramagnetic substances he has measured.

Limestone, which covered the Great Pyramid, is diamagnetic. The cone shape and the pyramid shape are often considered to be energetically equivalent. B

oth generate a spin field from the apex.

Kirlian photo of the vortex energy out of a pyramid replica

The story accompanying the pyramid image is about the pyramid energy research of Mary and Dean Hardy of Allegan, Michigan.

The Hardys once took a gold coin and hung at the King’s Chamber level of a Great Pyramid scale replica. After some time the gold coin got a clear “oil” on it and the gold was etched away under the drops of oil. Another pyramid experimenter replicated the Hardy’s experiment. Joshua Gulick suggests that the pyramid is the alchemists “secret fire”.

He says that he has used this secret fire to dissolve metallic gold into the alchemical/m-state oil of gold and that this oil of gold dried into, first a white powder, then a red powder. These products of gold are well described in the alchemical literature as steps toward the Philosopher’s Stone. Y

ou can read Joshua’s account of his experiments in God’s Recipe for the Elixir of Life.

Here is a paragraph from his web page:

“The big secret of alchemy is what’s known as the ’secret fire,’ something that can, over time, dissolve gold into a white powder. It is said that the whole process is completed by this ’fire’ without human interaction. It is also said that the process is ’child’s play,’ and it is. The secret fire which dissolves gold is an energy emitted by a pyramid shape.

Not very surprisingly, the word ’pyramid’ is translated as ’fire in the middle.’

As I am writing this, I have a one ounce Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin hanging in the middle of a pyramid that I made from eight five-foot sections of copper pipe which form a pyramidal frame. The coin is exuding a liquid which dries into a white powder. It is not condensation as the coin is at air temperature, and the humidity is low.

I have cleaned the coin, and the liquid/powder reappears.

This is not a normally reported property of gold, but it is quite consistent with the first step of the alchemical process, obscurely related in the texts I have studied.”

Vortex Trap

If you spin water in a vortex inside a strong magnetic field you can get a portion of the water to levitate out of the field. Using a “trap” based on this principle one can concentrate this kind of water.

This water has a sweeter taste than ordinary water, it has an oily feel and it contains a higher percentage of the ORMUS elements.

You can do the same thing by moving air through a magnetic trap but you have to bubble the “good” air through distilled water in order to notice the sweet taste. You can find some simple magnetic trap designs HERE.

The “good” water is measurably different from ordinary water in that an “oil” can be extracted from it using a solvent like ether.

This is the alchemists “oil that doesn’t burn” and they say it is the universal solvent; it will even dissolve gold.

Pyramid Levitation

I believe that the Great Pyramid was designed to be a “Swiss Army knife” like tool to manipulate consciousness and matter.

It may have been designed to be a “trap” for the ORMUS elements from air. It may also have been designed to convert metallic gold into ORMUS gold and it may have been designed to concentrate these ORMUS elements in the King’s Chamber so that people could use these elements for spiritual purposes.

Dr. Philip Callahan measured some very different properties of the atmosphere inside the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid.

Here are his comments on this from his book titled “ANCIENT MYSTERIES, MODERN VISIONS – The Magnetic Life of Agriculture”:

“It is but a short step from psychokinesis (moving a body sidewise) to levitation (moving a body upward). I am firmly convinced that the pyramids, both Egyptian and Central American, were huge antigravity structures for levitating the priests.

The pyramid acted like a huge “enlarger-type” condensing lens which concentrated the cosmic energy into the hollow resonant stone tower, which in turn was filled with the IR-paramagnetic, organic breath of chanting priests.

If my belief seems farfetched, then perhaps the “picture” language of the Egyptians themselves should give one cause to reconsider.

There are quite a few Egyptian wall reliefs that show a Pharaoh lying on a sphinx-like stone couch. In the next accompanying relief, the carving shows the Pharaoh six inches above the surface of the couch with a sacred kestrel hovering above his outstretched body.

Remember the kestrel is one of the few large birds that can hover in a fixed position in space.”

“I have been working with paramagnetism for years. I not only discovered good soil to be paramagnetic, but likewise refined beeswax. That later discovery indicated to me that since insects are coated with wax, their antennae are paramagnetic structures. The next bit of reasoning followed from my insect work and it involved asking the right questions about religious structures such as pyramids.

The right question is, “Since insect sensilla have definite shapes for resonating to different infrared wavelengths, do the various shapes of stone religious structures indicate that they resonate to the paramagnetic forces of the cosmos? In other words, can they collect and concentrate the paramagnetic cosmic force above what would normally occur in unshaped soil and rocks?

The answer is yes, and inside that King’s Chamber at Giza I proved that without a shadow of doubt.

In my work with Irish round towers, I developed model smooth and corrugated round towers that respond to the paramagnetic-infrared aura of the human body.

Pink granite is the most paramagnetic stone that I have ever measured-with an instrument called a magnaprobe. The inside tower chamber of the Great Pyramid is constructed from beautiful pink granite. Each of the giant pink granite lenses (tower floors) act to focus the cosmic paramagnetism down (like light waves) into the King’s Chamber.

The outer limestone portion of the pyramid serves as a giant condenser lenses in a photographic enlarger-to diffuse and concentrate paramagnetic waves. Of course, the outer, smooth, tura limestone casing of the Great Pyramid has been destroyed so it will never again stimulate total levitation of a heavy body.

My round tower sensors will, of course, move sideways to a human body (telekinesis) anywhere on the earth. The arc of movement in my house is 60-70 degrees, but in the King’s Chamber it moved 200-300 degrees in a steady sweep to the human aura.

The sensor was five to ten times as sensitive inside the chamber as inside my house in Gainesville, Florida.”

Apex Energy

Both the pyramid (with a square base) and the cone (with a circular base) are believed to energize the alchemical ORMUS materials.

Some ORMUS researchers suspect that the vortex energy, which emits from the apex of these two shapes, is integral to energizing the ORMUS elements. You can see another version of the Kirlian photograph of this vortex energy from a pyramid below:

Dr. Dee J. Nelson and his wife Geo, produced this Kirlian photograph of Pyramid energy using a Tesla Coil in 1979

At a “pyramid energy” workshop that I attended in the mid seventies, Patrick Flanagan described how he could dowse the vortex energy from the peak of a pyramid on every floor directly above the apex as high as he went in a tall building.

He said the energy was undiminished by distance above the apex. Flanagan developed a pyramid grid to take advantage of this apex energy.

A kirlian photograph of this pyramid grid is shown below:

The ancient Egyptians used the cone shape to energize their mfkzt, which was described as a white bread made from gold.

You can read more about this HERE.

The mfkzt is probably related to the Biblical manna and shewbread which may have been charged in the Ark of the Covenant.

According to Peter Thompkins the Ark of the Covenant has the same inner volume as the sarcophagus in the Kings Chamber of the Great Pyramid. Thus, both would have a similar resonant cavity.

Cavity Structural Effect

The Russian entomologist Viktor S. Grebennikov claimed that he built an anti-gravity platform using his Cavity Structural Effect (CSE) principles in shaping the chitin of some large flying beetles which should have been aerodynamically incapable of flying.

You can see a picture of Grebennikov in action below:

Grebennikov also claimed that he could feel energies emitting from the apex of a pyramid:

You will soon pick up an active zone, a “clot“, where the Egyptians had their tombs.

Another active zone (a flame) above the top of the pyramid is also well-perceived by the indicator if you drag its end over the top. The “clot” and the “flame” are well-felt by the finger inserted into he pyramid, or your palm moved above it after some practice.

The pyramid effect, which generated many scary and mysterious stories over the centuries, is one of the CSE manifestations.

He proposed that a suspended frame pyramid would spin in a clockwise direction:

Cup your hands into a tube (see picture) and point your hands from a 2-meter distance at the suspended pyramid (do not lose your “target”). The pyramid will eventually start rotating clockwise in a few minutes under the pressure of this beam of CSE energy.

You can read more of the story of Viktor S. Grebennikov HERE.

Electric Ark

In his book The Alchemy Key, Stuart Nettleton wrote:

“Jewish Midrashim commentaries describe how the Ark of the Covenant levitated and carried along some of the people who were supposed to be carrying it.”

According to the Zohar, the ancient Jewish priests would tie a rope around the ankle of any priest who was going into the presence of the Ark of the Covenant so that they could safely pull him away from the Ark if it zapped him.

The Ark of the Covenant was used to store (and perhaps charge) the pot of manna saved by Moses.

A similar energy phenomena associated with the Great Pyramid was reported by Peter Thompkins in “Secrets of the Great Pyramid“:

“An engineer and former professor of radio, L. Turenne, maintains that all sorts of different forms being combinations of different frequencies act as different types of resonators for energy in the cosmos. This has led to speculation that the Pyramid might be some sort of gigantic lens which is able to focus an unknown energy simply by means of its shape.

Even the coffer In the King’s Chamber (only with Internet Explorer) has been considered such a device by Worth Smith, who points out that the cubic capacity of the coffer is exactly the same as that of the biblical Arc of the Covenant.

According to Maurice Denis-Papin, descendant of the famous inventor, the Arc of the Covenant was a sort of electric capacitor capable of producing an electrical charge of 500 to 700 volts. The Arc is said to have been made of acacia wood, lined inside and out with gold: that is to say, two conductors separated by an insulator. On either side were garlands which may have served as condensers. Denis-Papin says the Arc was placed in a dry spot where the magnetic field reached a normal 500 to 600 volts per vertical meter.

Insulated from the ground, the Arc is said to have given off fiery rays, acting like a Leyden jar. According to Denis-Papin the capacitor was discharged to earth by means of the garlands. To move the Arc, two golden rods were slid through rings attached to the exterior.

The similarity of such an “energy accumulator” to the orgone box developed by Wilhelm Reich, which was such a puzzle to Albert Einstein, is also striking.

Sir W. Siemens, the British inventor, related that one day while he was standing on the summit of Cheops’ pyramid an Arab guide called his attention to the fact that whenever he raised his hand with his fingers outspread an acute ringing noise was heard.

Raising just his index, Siemens felt a distinct prickling in it. When he tried to drink from a wine bottle he had brought along he noted a slight electric shock. So Siemens moistened a newspaper and wrapped it around the bottle to convert it into a Leyden jar. It became increasingly charged with electricity simply by being held above his head.

When sparks began to issue from the wine bottle, Siemens’s Arab guides became distrustful and accused him of practicing witchcraft. One of the guides tried to seize Siemens’s companion, but Siemens lowered the bottle towards him and gave the Arab such a jolt that he was knocked senseless to the ground.

Recovering, the guide scrambled to his feet and took off down the Pyramid, crying loudly.”

More examples of electrical phenomena associated with the cavity structural effect and ORMUS can be found HERE.

If I were to guess the purpose of the Great Pyramid I would have to call it a multi-purpose research instrument that gets its power by squaring the circle of the earth.

Cone Collector

The ancient Egyptians also paid a great deal of attention to the cone shape.

A cone shaped “white bread” is often pictured as an offering to the gods. In “Ages in ChaosImmanuel Velikovsky writes:

“Next to the altar was the table “whereupon the shewbread was” (I Kings 7:48; II Chronicles 4:19). The showbread was obviously not of flour, but of silver or gold; in the Book of Exodus 12 it is said that shewbread was made by Bezaleel, who was a goldsmith.”

I believe that Dr. Alexander Shpilman’s “Simple “M-state” Elements Concentrators” also take advantage of the cone shape to concentrate m-state and energize it.

The “white breadcones are often adjacent to a hieroglyph that is called the “Sacred Sothic Triangle” on page 150 of “The Lion Path: You Can Take It With You” by Musaios. The illustration from this book is below:

The text under the illustration indicates that it represents a “door entry” and that:

“The Sothic Triangle, forming the ancient hieroglyph for Sirius (Sothis) was constructed by using a cord 22 units long, with markers at 9 and 13 units from the start.

Then, with the cord pulled taut at these markers, and the end meeting the beginning, the triangle denoting sothis was formed as the drawing shows; the base being 4 units wide and each sloping side 9 units from a corner of the base to the vertex, in 4-to-9 proportion (see for example the inscriptions at Abydos).”

From the 4/9 ratio can deduce that the vertex angle is 32.727272… degrees or roughly 33 degrees.

The Sothis triangles seem to be more regular in shape than the bread cones. You can see several of these compared below:

The Sothic triangle is generally adjacent to an ankh as seen below:

In personal communications Dr. Philip Callahan has suggested that the pyramid structure and certain cone topped round towers are open resonance antennas tuned to a resonance frequency of the earth.

In his book, “Paramagnetism – Rediscovering Nature’s Secret Force of Growth” Dr. Callahan wrote this about the stone towers of Ireland:

“I had discovered that round towers are indeed high tower ELF radio antenna paramagnetic amplifiers. More astonishing yet, I discovered the ancient Irish monks of the 5th to 9th centuries were rock antenna radio engineers.

Most round towers of Ireland are now without floors or ladders, however, I was able to visit the tower on Scattery Island where the door is at ground level. Inside I discovered that without even touching my jute-saltwater cord to the walls, that at the center there was a two- to four-time increase in the strength of the waves.

The 8-Hz and 2,000-Hz waves always came in strongest at dawn and dusk. I recorded the same ELF phenomenon in so-called megalithic tombs and even found a megalithic pictograph of a target wave on the side of the chamber at Loughcrew.”

Please note that these round stone towers had conical roofs. Grebennikov also mentioned strong cavity structural effects from conical cavities:

Large Cones with an artificial comb filling and three magnets at the back. Two similar cones were positioned against each other with respect to the sun, one in Isilkul and the other one near Novosibirsk.

They were thrown apart and demolished on the morning of April 23, 1991. The one in Novosibirsk was unfolded and pressed into the wall of an underground hiding place and its magnets disappeared.

Some residents of an Omsk apartment experienced a series of strangest “poltergeists” (see Vechernii Omsk from April 26. and Omsk and Moscow TV broadcasts) at the same moment.

The same paper called the device in the picture “Grebenikov’s hyperboloid on August 5, 1991”,  exactly because of this “coincidence”. One of the “beams” of the upright electronic waves between the two conical structures may have actually been formed precisely there, on the river Irtysh embankment in Omsk.

Levitating Gold

I have gotten ORMUS gold to levitate in a spinning magnetic field.

Watch movie:

In this movie you will see the ORMUS gold change from a paramagnetic material which follows the magnet to a diamagnetic material which is repelled by it.

We postulate that the ORMUS gold is a superconductor which is attracted to the magnet at first but, as the Meissner effect builds, begins to exclude the magnetic field and jumps away from the magnet.

Backup of the elixir of life found at
by Joshua Gulick

March 30, 2001

From what I understand, alchemy is a science that is mainly concerned with process of making the ‘Elixir of Life‘ or the ‘Philosopher’s Stone‘ — both refer to the same substance (a purified form of gold) that is said to be able to heal most any disease, reduce the pain of injuries, extend life considerably, and turn other metals like mercury or lead into gold. [Although it is reportedly possible to make other metals and gemstones using similar processes, I will not address these possibilities in this paper.]

The big secret of alchemy is what’s known as the ‘secret fire,’ something that can, over time, dissolve gold into a white powder. It is said that the whole process is completed by this ‘fire’ without human interaction. It is also said that the process is ‘child’s play,’ and it is. The secret fire which dissolves gold is an energy emitted by a pyramid shape. Not very surprisingly, the word ‘pyramid’ is translated as ‘fire in the middle.’ As I am writing this, I have a one ounce Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin hanging in the middle of a pyramid that I made from eight five-foot sections of copper pipe which form a pyramidal frame. The coin is exuding a liquid which dries into a white powder. It is not condensation as the coin is at air temperature, and the humidity is low. I have cleaned the coin, and the liquid/powder reappears. This is not a normally reported property of gold, but it is quite consistent with the first step of the alchemical process, obscurely related in the texts I have studied. [Note that I did skip the black stage which is described in some texts. I think this is probably due to the 99.99% purity of the gold I am using. See the links at the end for more info on this issue.] Oh, by the way, the pyramid should be aligned with one face facing north and the gold should not be exposed to light.

Ideally, I should have ground up the gold first or used gold leaf. Also, it might be nice to seal the gold in a ‘Philosopher’s Egg‘ (an egg-shaped glass (don’t use plastic) sealed by pinching the molten glass together – this contains the reaction and helps you keep from fiddling with it). Also, it might be extremely useful to make my next pyramid from iron as it’s fiery nature is well noted in the literature. The reason that my first test was in a copper pyramid is because I had one already made and sitting in my yard. Also, I have a sense that my gold is hanging a bit high for the maximum dissolving rate in my pyramid (it’s hanging just a little below half the height), but I think the powder which is evolved is a bit more energetic. I think that increasing the height of the gold in the pyramid may increase the subtlety of the fire.

Now the white powder is just the first step. It’s said to be a good medicine, and to be able to transform base metals into silver (I don’t know about this, but if liquid and powder can ooze from gold because of a pyramid, who really knows?) But if the powder is left in the pyramid for a longer period, it eventually turns blood red in color. It is then said to be a better medicine and then capable of turning base metals into gold. But before one can turn metals into gold, one must add some metallic gold (in powder form, probably) to the red powder and let it sit in the pyramid a bit more, eventually forming a red waxy sort of substance. This metallic gold is added to allow the Elixir to amalgamate (is that the right word?) with the molten metal that is to be transmuted. I’m not sure, but if one is not transmuting a molten metal, this step might possibly be dropped.

I believe the reason a pyramid can dissolve gold is probably related to the fact that God made gold atoms to arrange themselves in a pyramidal form when they are in a metallic state. Other geometries probably effect their corresponding crystalline structures similarly. I have some theories about this and how these sorts of transmutations are possible, but that will have to wait until my next paper. Also, it might be that cone shapes work as well or better than pyramid shapes. It is also possible (if not likely) that the 45 degree side angle is not the optimal. Experiments need to be done to determine the most efficient shape.

Oh, by the way, the white and red powders are both supposed to be superconductors at room temperature, though I don’t have a large enough sample yet to test. They are also supposed to exhibit temperature dependent mass changes, and also form a clear glass when heated in some manner. The powders are supposed to exhibit macroscopic quantum effects.

Oh, by the way, I think this clarifies the “Mystery of the Pyramids” and probably provides a great deal of insight into the other pyramid building civilizations throughout history. Also, you might want to consider the implications that this is a natural occurrence, one which happens everyday within the earth and perhaps more efficiently in mountains. The alchemists say that they can do in 1 year what it takes nature 1000 years to do. It is amazing how God sets opportunities up for us that amaze us, isn’t it? I would suggest that a prayer to thank God for the wonder of His creation would be in order. He really does love us and He wants what’s best for us. Are you on God’s path? If not, I can tell you how to find joy, and love, and peace through Christ if you want to e-mail me at Please remember that immortality is God’s decision, and that the elixir of life can’t bring you more of the true-and-lasting love, true-and-lasting joy, and true-and-lasting peace, than any other material thing ever did.

Also, now that you know the secret, if you want some really good information about alchemy and the above process, I heartily recommend the book, “In Pursuit of Gold – Alchemy in Theory and Practice” by Lapidus or Stephen Skinner. It is excellent and it explains most everything and will fill in most of the blanks that you might have. You can find a complete copy of the bookHERE

Tiny Water Trap Plans

Tiny Trap Plans

The advantages of this trap are that it can be configured as a one stage, two stage or three stage trap and that the “smooth” magnetic field seems to produce a better output water. The disadvantages are that it requires fairly high water pressure and it is not easily adjustable like the Winter Sink Trap.

Trap Assembly parts

Leg Assembly parts

Magnet Assembly parts

There is one problem with the materials for this trap. It seems that the PVC fitting companies are moving away from the tapered bushing which makes up the basic body of the trap. As there is no substitute for this part it might be good to stock up on some of these soon. I found lots of them at Home Depot and Lowes in the Seattle area. I am checking out another manufacturer for these parts.

I have found two sources for the ring magnets for this trap. One source is in the Seattle area and is reluctant to sell to individuals. Here is the contact information for this supplier:

Armstrong Magnetics, Inc.
(253) 887-9094
3722 Auburn Way N
Auburn WA

These ring magnets have an inside diameter of 2.3 inches and fit around most 1.5 inch couplers with a little slop.

The other magnet supplier that I have found has magnets which are 2.24 inches inside and they fit snugly on some couplers and do not fit other couplers. I prefer these magnets because they are a bit cheaper and the tight fit is generally helpful. Here is the contact information for this supplier:

The Magnet Source
Master Magnetics, Inc.
607 South Gilbert Street
Castle Rock, Colorado 80104
888-293-9399 Ext. 122

The part number for this magnet is CR525CN. They are 3/4 inch thick and you will need two for each trap. The price breakdown is as follows:

1 piece
3 pieces
10 pieces
25 pieces
50 pieces
100 pieces

The cost of the similar magnets from Armstrong Magnetics is a bit higher.

This trap will work great as a second stage trap for the Winter Sink Trap design. Several of them can also be used together in a multiple stage trap configuration. I have three of these in my bathtub right now with a three stage design which produces the best trap water I have ever had. I can always feel the effects of the water  when I drink a couple of glasses fresh from the trap.

Images of the three stage trap design can be found at:

These are good sized pictures and will take a while to load.

Keelynet BBS backup of Hardy1.asc

The following was found at

Pyramid Double Helix – 11/01/97

Originally posted as HARDY1.ASC on the KeelyNet BBS on August 1, 1992. This file is a short description intended to describe a drawing listed on KeelyNet as Hardy1.GIF (included in this .HTML file).

In 1986, I (Jerry Decker) had the good fortune to attend a Crystal Conference held in Irving, Texas. At that meeting, there were many new age types, yet two presenters really caught my interest.Mary and Dean Hardy of Allegan, Michigan lectured on the ongoing work she and Dean had been carrying out with respect to pyramid energy. At first, I had much trouble accepting what I was hearing but when a slide was shown of a pyramid emitting a double helix beam of energy when excited by a Tesla coil, I was hooked.Mary frequently referred to an energy which she called “TACHION”. I asked for clarification and she said the word was coined by Kenneth Killick to describe an effect he had investigated involving ‘tacky ions.’ This is by no means the faster than light particles known as TACHYONS. Kenneth has the ability to see and manipulate energy of various sorts and worked with the Hardy’s and others for many years. After that lecture so many years ago, Mary and Dean have become not only good friends but valuable contacts. When they visit Dallas, they often stay at my house and we discuss many subjects.Mary and Dean have written two excellent books, Pyramid Energy and a revised edition available from them at the address at the end of this file. It is one of the best books on pyramid energies that I have read primarily because it involves the use of energy to form what has been termed ‘Standing Columnar Waves.’ It also deals with patterns that seem to influence energy for specific effects.Doug Benjamin is an energy researcher who has investigated geometric angles derived from Egyptian sources and actual experiments. These angles are basically 3 sided pyramids (2 dimensional) which correspond to specific organs of the body. When properly used, they can improve the energy level and thus the health of the targeted organ.Doug has known and worked with the Hardy’s for many years and had a photograph of the pyramid slide that so fascinated me. He kindly gave us a copy of this photo for our archives. We now have this image scanned in and available for study and hopefully duplication. An interesting story about Doug happened at a Global Sciences Congress in Denver in 1989. He and I were talking about several subjects and he pulled what appeared to be a ceramic tile from his pocket. Doug asked if the tile looked familiar and I remarked that it looked like a heat tile from the space shuttle. Doug said it had an unusual history in that he had ‘bribed’ some Egyptian government officials to allow him access to a non-tourist area. That area was of much interest to him as it consisted of 3 pyramids which turned out to be connected by a single tunnel. He then drew a diagram of it and asked what I thought it might represent.

Ziggurat style

(the original drawing is in ASCII, so I’ll have to rely on a description – will draw an html diagram for inclusion.)Imagine three pyramids, the ones on the left and right are identical with smooth sides. The pyramid in the middle is a stepped pyramid commonly called a Ziggurat. All three pyramids have a shaft leading from the base down underground. These vertical shafts all connect to a common horizontal shaft. The walls of these shafts and the corridor were covered with these mystery tiles.Doug said the pyramids on the left and right were normal pyramids while the center one was a ziggurat (stepped). Now if energy was in fact somehow received or transmitted by such a stepped pyramid, it would function as a lens commonly termed a FRESNEL.Therefore, it appeared to be some form of SCALAR INTERFEROMETER with the left and right pyramids acting as either transmitters or receivers and the center acting as a concentrating lens or targeting lens. These tiles lined the connecting corridors between all three pyramids and would seem to be some form of channel for a very high intensity energy. Interestingly enough, in Mary and Dean’s many trips to Egypt, they have found several interior anomalies in the Cheops pyramid that are commonly known, yet from their research, they have come up with a new twist on what these anomalies were produced by or used for.I will not go into great detail as it is covered quite well in their fascinating book, however, Mary and Dean feel that the Ark of the Covenant was an energy accumulator that was used in conjunction with the pyramids. They cite a mysterious channel in one large room of Cheops which would perfectly fit the Ark. But the best twist yet is a recessed chamber which is cut into the wall in such a fashion that the Ark would fit directly in the largest lower space. That chamber is stepped in a pyramid type fashion also and is marked with SPIRALLING SCORCH marks that run to the top of the chamber!Mary and Dean believe that the Ark was charged and placed into this recessed chamber. When the Ark was triggered to release its accumlated energy, it discharged upwards and formed the spiralling configuration that is now seen as the scorch marks on the wall. The scanned image of the Hardy1.GIF file shows something quite fascinating with regard to such a comparison of the Ark (Tesla Coil) placed in a pyramid structure to produce this Double Helix spiralling energy emanating from the tip.The original photo was taken by Dr. J.D. Nelson of the University of Wyoming. From the limited information we have concerning how it was done, the pyramid shape is made of soldered copper sheet, possibly with a crystal placed at the apex..

The Tesla coil is placed so that the electrical emission occurs at the 2/3’s power point of the pyramid. We do not know the voltage though we think it is approximately 200,000 Volts. Dean says he thinks that the light curtain that projects from the pyramid due to the Tesla coil arcing is NOT acrylic sheet but that the pyramid is supported by acrylic columns. It would seem that acrylic sheet would help to concentrate the ions and further intensify the energy emissions, so there is room for experiment here. Also note that this photo was taken in a perfectly dark room and with a time exposure of about 1 to 3 minutes, (our information regarding the technical details is very limited). Some other points of speculation about possible ways of duplicating and or optimizing this phenomenal experiment :

  • 1) Use a tunable Tesla coil and try various frequencies for different or more pronounced effects.
  • 2) Try other types of metal than copper or even use alloys or layered sheets.
  • 3) Try a crystal on the apex, various types and/or shapes.
  • 4) Try to redirect or channel the double helix energy through a wire or conduit.
  • 5) Arrange to bombard plants to see if the energy is beneficial or destructive to living tissues (this might serve as the ULTIMATE MWO, see MWO1 on KeelyNet).
  • 6) For those familiar with Reich’s Orgone Energy, such a hybrid might produce bizarre and even hazardous effects, so be careful.

Just one word of warning, we have information that leads us to believe that crystals used in conjunction with high voltage energy sources might be hazardous if the apexes of excited crystals are pointed towards living tissue, so TAKE THIS AS A WARNING!We urge further experiments and sharing of your findings in such areas. Thanks for your attention. If you would like to purchase a copy of the Hardy’s fascinating book PYRAMID ENERGY, with much original research, you may write them at :
